The Great Crater

As soon as you arrive, the Great Crater plunges you into the thick of it. At the entrance to the park, you walk down a spiral ramp, following the outside walls of a 35 m deep crater, which is dug into several successive lava flows, visible to the naked eye. These lava flows date back 30,000 years!

Your exploration of Vulcania begins by this impressive descent into the Great Crater.  With rumblings, curls of smoke, reddish glows and flames everywhere around you, you will feel all the power and mystery of volcanoes.
