After 123 years of sleep, Mount Saint Helens erupted on May 18, 1980 at 8 a.m. The phenomenon was preceded by a seismic crisis and steam jets during the previous 2 months. Known as the largest volcanic eruption in the United States to date, witness this volcanic episode at Vulcania through striking archival footage and an explanatory animated backdrop.
