Elles jaillissent en fontaines de lave qui atteignent parfois plusieurs centaines de m\u00e8tres de hauteur, puis s\u2019\u00e9panchent sur de vastes surfaces. L\u2019accumulation de ces coul\u00e9es fluides donne naissance \u00e0 des c\u00f4nes aux pentes tr\u00e8s douces appel\u00e9s volcans-boucliers.
