Elles sont caract\u00e9ris\u00e9es par l\u2019\u00e9jection rythmique de lambeaux de lave propuls\u00e9s par les gaz volcaniques. Parfois, le crat\u00e8re d\u00e9borde d\u2019une lave fluide qui alimente des coul\u00e9es. L\u2019\u00e9ruption dure de quelques jours \u00e0 quelques mois, puis s\u2019arr\u00eate. Le c\u00f4ne est compos\u00e9 d\u2019une succession de strates riches en cendres et en bombes volcaniques et de strates form\u00e9es par les coul\u00e9es de lave refroidies.<\/p>\n<p>La plupart des jeunes volcans de la Cha\u00eene des Puys (Massif central fran\u00e7ais) sont n\u00e9s \u00e0 la suite de ce type d\u2019\u00e9ruption. Chaque nouvelle arriv\u00e9e de magma en surface a fait appara\u00eetre un nouveau volcan. Ainsi, entre -100 000 ans et -6 700 ans, quelques dizaines de c\u00f4nes de <a href=\"\/science\/reperes\/glossaire\/#1668609694206-fdde5179-1d9a1aa2-532d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scories<\/a> entour\u00e9s de leurs coul\u00e9es se sont construits.<\/p>\n<p>Paradoxalement, le volcan de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, le Stromboli, est tout \u00e0 fait atypique.
